NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the conference of Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry(DICCI) here on Tuesday. The event in Central Delhi of the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry underline the BJP government’s attempt to create closer links with Dr B R Ambedkar.
The occasion will also be an initiative to mark the tenth anniversary of DICCI and 125th birth anniversary of the National icon. Narendra Modi, is also expected to be the chief guest for the event. In the past few months, Modi’s adopted village, Jayapur in Varanasi, has already seen two Ambedkar statutes being inaugurated by union minister. About 1200 Dalit entrepreneurs and even more from all across the country will take part in the event. It is also being conducted to seek support from the Centre in promoting entrepreneurship among Dalits. The conference will also focus its attention on ideas of Dr. Ambedkar’s thoughts on industrialisation and entrepreneurship. This initiative is also done with a purpose to make Dalit partners in the government’s initiatives of “Make in India, Digital India and Skill India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also initiated several measures to boost entrepreneurship among youth, and especially among Dalits. Mudra bank, skill development are some of the major initiatives.
In recent times, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to address differently abled people as ‘divyaang’ seems to be widely accepted amongst the physically challenged community who were seen celebrating this appeal. A group of differently-abled people in Kanpur were seen dancing with joy and enthusiasm after Prime Minister Modi, today in his ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme appealed the citizens to address the persons with disabilities as ‘divyaang’, meaning divine body, saying they are endowed with extraordinary power in certain other ways.
“The word ‘divyaang’ used by Prime Minister Modi for differently-abled people in ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme is very nice. We want that even in Railways, pensions and other departments as well, we should be given this name.
