NEW DELHI: Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF), in a joint operation with the Renigunta Police, her the other night seized 28 red sanders logs weighing more than 1 tonne than near Thungadhola area in the Karakambadi beat.
According to official sources, the combing party encountered as many as 30 smuggling operatives carrying red sanders logs in the forest area.
On seeing the police and task force personnel, the operatives began pelting stones on them. With the situation going out of the control, officials fired two rounds of bullets in the air in self defence and this prompted the operatives to abandon the logs and flee from the spot. However, they managed to nab one operative Muniswamy, who identified himself as a cook appointed by the smugglers.
