ANDHRA PARDESH: Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrushnudu has pegged the estimated sales tax revenue for the State for the financial year 2015-16 at Rs.32,000 crore.
Taking part in an awareness meeting organised by the Commercial Tax department for traders of Chittoor, Nellore, Kadapa, Anantapur and Kurnool districts here on Sunday, he hinted at several reforms in the department of commercial taxes with the aim of shedding hassles and improving revenue.
The Minister admitted that similar meetings were proposed in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam at the behest of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who had directed him to take the opinion of the members of the trade and commerce before proceeding ahead with the reforms. He appealed to the traders to pay their taxes properly and regularly to support the financially-ailing State.
Speaking to the media later, Mr. Ramakrushnudu explained the steps taken by the government to achieve double digit growth. Of the Rs.44,423 crore estimated as tax revenue, Rs.32,000 crore came from sales tax, Rs.4,680 crore from excise, Rs.3500 crore from stamps and registration, Rs.1,977 crore from motor vehicle tax, he said.
