INDIA: 100 international education stakeholders descended on Parliament House, there was much to celebrate. With more than 450,000 fee-paying international students studying here and 160,000 enrollments in courses delivered offshore, Australia is doing exceptionally well in the global education market.
The government’s round table did not descend into a self-congratulatory talkfest. For there is still much heavy lifting to be done if this $17 billion a year industry is to thrive. There are policy areas where we could be doing a lot better or where we are falling behind initiatives being pursued by other student destination countries.
