PATNA: The Income Tax department officials and Bihar police personnel have intensified the drive against black money and unaccounted cash likely to be used in state assembly election.
The flying squads seized Rs 61.10 lakh besides foreign currency worth Rs 21 lakh from different places of the state on Tuesday.
During massive vehicles checking drive in Patna, foreign currency worth around Rs 21 lakh was seized from Masaurhi police station area. “During vehicles checking drive, foreign currency, including dollars and dinars worth Rs 21 lakh were seized from a person in Masaurhi. He claimed the money belongs to an agency involved in money exchange business. It was being transported from Gaya to Patna.”
“However, the Enforcement Directorate has seized the money and interrogating the carriers. Since the carriers could not produce any document as the source of money, it has been seized. They are being interrogated,” said Patna SSP Vikas Vaibhav.
