BENGALURU: The task force police on Friday night seized a red sanders dump of 50 logs worth over Rs. 3 crore in the international market, from a hideout at Katiganahalli locality of Bengaluru rural.
The task force personnel also seized a tractor during the inter-State raid. The seizure comes after the arrest of an inter-State mediator in red sanders smuggling, R. Mallikarjuna (23) of Kadapa district, at Bhakarapeta in Chittoor district this morning. The information provided by Mallikarjuna led to the Katiganahalli raid.
Additional SP (Red Sanders operations) Y. Ratna confirmed the raids at Bengaluru rural, and said as many as 10 smugglers had escaped from the godown during the operation.
“We will continue our searches and special teams have been dispatched to nab the absconders,” she said.
