JAKARTA: Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro claimed that tax revenue realization figure per December 25, 2015 had reached Rp1,000 trillion (US$71.5 billion); higher than last year’s achievement at Rp982 trillion (US$70.1 billion).

“For the first time, Indonesia manages to achieve a tax revenue figure of Rp1,000 trillion,” Bambang said in Jakarta on Sunday, December 27. Bambang hopes that the tax revenue realization figure would continue to increase by the end of this year. Bambang said that his institution had instructed state-owned banks to remain open for tax payments until December 31, 2015 at 9 p.m.

Bambang explained that he had taken measures to ensure that the state would achieve 85 percent of the tax revenue target, or around Rp1,098 trillion (US$78.4 billion), including revaluating assets of state-owned companies, banks, and property companies. The Finance Ministry also approached 50 major taxpayers, boosted tax revenue from the oil and gas sector, and crafted the reinventing policy.

Bambang expressed optimism that the strategy would boost the state tax revenue since the positive trend had been apparent in December 2015.

“The tax revenue by December 25, 2015 stood at Rp120 trillion (US$8.5 billion), which was higher than that in November at Rp104 trillion (US$7.4 billion),” Bambang said.
