JAKARTA: The finance ministry of Indonesia has collecte 21.97 trillion rupiah ($1.68 billion) from the sale of retail sharia bonds which are known as Sukuk Retail (SUKRI).
The coupon for the bonds maturing March 11, 2018 was set at 8.25 percent, lower than the 8.75 percent paid by last year’s issuance, Robert Pakpahan, director general of the ministry’s financing and risk management office said.
The assets underlying the bonds were government projects included in the 2015 state budget.
Retail sukuk are offered to individual Indonesian investors.
Pakpahan said the government will also issue conventional retail bonds for Indonesian citizens in October, with an indicative target of 20 trillion rupiah. ($1 = 13,045.0000 rupiah)
