JAKARTA: Officials at the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), in collaboration with the Dumai Customs Office, has managed to foil the smuggling of 268 kilogram of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) in Medan, North Sumatera.
The value of the substance is estimated to reach Rp500 billion, with the average price of meth in Indonesia at Rp2 billion per kilogram.
Head of BNN Public Affairs Sr. Slamet Pribadi said that those hundreds kilograms of shabu-shabu were packaged in 45 boxes.
“Each box contains six tubes of meth,” he said to Tempo on Sunday (18/10).
Besides confiscating sabu, BNN also arrested two suspects, namely MT and J. Both suspects were arrested in Medan Deli district, North Sumatra, on Saturday at around 1:35 pm local time.
Indonesia is currently one of the main markets meth circulations in Asia. A number of smuggling attempts in a big amount have been successfully foiled by the authorities.
