JAKARTA: Indonesia plans to import 5.4 million barrels of RON88 “Premium” gasoline in October, down from 6.9 million barrels in September, an official at state energy company Pertamina said on Wednesday.
“Over the past one or two months our Premium stocks have increased because of declining demand. Going forward we will reduce our stocks by reducing imports,” said Daniel Purba, senior vice president of Pertamina’s Integrated Supply Chain unit. From January to August, monthly RON88 imports had averaged at around 7 million barrels, Purba said, noting that demand has partly shifted to higher grade RON92 “Pertamax” gasoline, imports of which will climb to 3.1 million barrels in October from 2.7 million barrels in September.
