The arrest was made after the police received information from residents and carried out a three-month investigation.

During the investigation, the West Jakarta Police arrested Syahbuddin and Muhammad Saleh bin Abdul Rani in Teluk Gelam, Ogan Komering Ilir, South Sumatra, on April 10.

“The police confiscated 540 kilograms of marijuana from the two suspects,” he said.

He added that the marijuana had been transported via a truck from West Aceh.

On April 13, the police arrested one more Acehnese identified as Jhony bin alm Wellu in Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta, seizing 10 kilograms in his possession.

The police then arrested four more Acehnese in Depok, West Java, who were identified as Jayadi alias Aji Yahya, Sudaryanto alias Nano bin Supandi, Ponto Khair Iskandar bin Khairudin and Muhammad Iqbal bin Muhammad Guntur, seizing 166 kilograms of marijuana and a Daihatsu car.

Following the Jhony case, the police then arrested Rusdi alias Si On dan Sulaiman alias Sule, confiscating 1.4 tons of marijuana and a truck on May 1, which was used by the suspects to transport the marijuana from Aceh.

Budi said the police were still carrying out intensive investigations into the case while the suspects had been detained.
