“If our exports increase, there will be a rise in the number of jobs,” Nasution said in Jakarta.

The government is constructing massive infrastructure projects to pursue higher GDP growth which is expected to reach 5.3 percent this year.

Last year, the Southeast Asia’s largest economy recorded a 4.8-percent growth rate which is the slowest pace in six years.

The minister cited the job creation would be in both formal and informal sectors.

Nevertheless, he stressed that the quality of the country’s human resources must be improved for their competitiveness globally.

The number of Indonesian workers grows over 7 percent per year, according to the ministry.

President Joko Widodo who came into office in October 2014 expects over 7 percent GDP growth rate at the end of his five-year tenure.
