JAKARTA: The Trade Ministry fell short of its target income from promotions programs this year, taking US$1.1 billion, which is 73 percent of its target of $1.5 billion.
The ministry’s director of market and export information development, Ari Satria, said the global slowdown had squeezed Indonesia’s promotions programs, such as expos, trade missions and purchasing missions.
“We didn’t expect the global economy would be so slow in the middle part of 2015. The $1.1 billion achievement is good enough,” said Ari on Wednesday as quoted by kontan.co.id in Jakarta.
At Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2015, he pointed out, the Trade Ministry took just $909.3 million, significantly down from last year’s $1.4 billion.
According to the ministry, there have been 30 promotional activities launched this year, with 21 of those conducted abroad and the remaining nine in Indonesia.
