Inflation soars to 23.33pc, essential commodities see price hikes

ISLAMABAD: Inflation has increased for two weeks in a row with the annual rate rising from 0.1% to 23.33%, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics.

This has affected some major commodities.

For instance, the price of live chicken rose by Rs 53 per kg, taking it to Rs 369 per kg. The price for 390 grams of dry milk also moved up by Rs 56 from Rs 928 to Rs 984. Similarly, fresh milk underwent an increase of Rs 2 per kg making it cost as much as Rs139 on average.

Among other things like pulses. Chickpea dal increaseId by Rs 11 per kilogramme reaching an average price of Rs 330 only.

Moong dal and Masoor daal both went up by Rs 4 per kilogramme. In addition the price of sugar had gone up with about Rs 1 a kilo hence averaging at Rs 146.

Other commodities such as firewood, rice, LPG household cylinders, and meat also experienced price hikes.

Despite these increases, some relief was observed in the prices of tomatoes, which decreased by Rs 40 per kg. Additionally, bananas became cheaper by Rs 4 per dozen, and a 20 kg bag of flour saw a reduction of Rs 36.
