HERAT CITY: Preliminary survey of the Herat-Torgondai railways track has been launched at a cost of $1.6 million, the Governor House of western Herat province said here the other day.
In a statement, the governor’s house quoted Governor Mohammad Asif Rahimi as calling the project important because it would connect Afghanistan with Central Asia and would play a vital role in development of Afghanistan.
The 200 kilometres railways track would begin from Tor Ghondai and through Kushk Khuna, Rabat, Sangi, Gulran, Engil and Guzra districts would reach Herat Airport, according to Rahimi.
The Herat-Torgondai railroad is part of a master railways network plan that would connect the entire country.
