BRIDGEPORT: An inmate at the Bridgeport Correctional Center was arrested after police said he smuggled drugs into the prison by hiding them in his rectum.
Daniel Pagano, 35, of Branford, was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of contraband in a correctional institute.
State police said corrections officers got a tip that Pagano had drugs in his cell. They searched the cell and found a medication container in Pagano’s bunk that contained several Suboxone pills and a quantity of powder later determined to be Buprenorphine. Both are opiates.
Police said Pagano admitted he had brought the container into the prison by hiding it in his rectum and claimed he needed the medication to help with his methadone withdrawal.
