KARACHI: Customs authorities have already started investigations against examiner Zaman Lutufullah after reports that the above said examiner is involved in clearance of nickel pipes through mis-declaration from Pak-Shaheen Terminal.
Sources told Customs Today that the authorities received credible information that — through one consignment — nickel pipes were smuggled using the name of children toys in the consignment. When Customs authorities decided to re-examine the consignment, they found that besides children cloth, a huge quantity of nickel pipes were also being imported.
After this customs authorities ordered an official inquiry against the examiner, they also ordered to conduct re-examinations of all those containers which were cleared by the said examiner in the recent past.
