Internal Audit-Customs to audit various consignments cleared in three years

KARACHI:  The Director General of the Directorate General of the Internal Audit-Customs Dr Owais Agha Jawwad has ordered the audit of consignments relating to steel pallets, auto parts, pharmaceuticals and others.

Dr Jawwad has ordered detailed audit of the consignments which had been cleared from all three Collectorates i.e. Customs Appraisement (West), Customs-Appraisement (East) and Customs-Port Muhammad Bin Qasim during the last three years.

The sources informed Customs Today that the Directorate General of Internal Audit—Customs has received a letter from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Headquarters, seeking audit of the consignments of pharmaceuticals, steel pallets and auto parts.

The sources further informed Customs Today that the authorities concerned of the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs would start the audit of the cleared consignments of the aforementioned items from next week.

The sources further informed that the authorities concerned of the department have also expressed their concerns before the DG Internal Audit-Customs regarding the delayed response of Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) in connection with issuance of cleared consignments data to the department.

“The DG Internal Audit-Customs Dr Owais Agha Jawwad has assured the officers of the department that their issues would be redressed”, sources added.
