Internal Audit-IR Addl Director Abdul Hameed fired over corruption

ISLAMABAD: Abdul Hameed Anjum, (IRS/BS-19), Additional Director, Directorate of Internal Audit (IR), Hyderabad, has been fired for corruption.

The competent authority of Federal Board of Revenue imposed the penalty on the charge of inefficiency, misconduct and corruption under the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rule, 1973.

As per details, the competent authority appointed Dr Muhammad Ali Khan (IRS/BS-20) as Inquiry Officer with the task to scrutinise the conduct of accused officer on said charges. The Inquiry Officer furnished his report with the findings that all the charges levelled against the accused officer stand established.

After having considered all aspects of the case, relevant material available at the record and verbal submission of the accused officer during the course of personal hearing, the Secretary Revenue Division/Chairman, FBR being Authority in the case observed that the accused officer deliberately overlooked the inadmissibility of the Sales Tax Refunds claims and issued Refunds worth more than Rs87 million on fake invoices and against the input tax which had never been paid in the Government’s Treasury.

He therefore, held the accused officer guilty of charges of inefficiency, misconduct and corruption and imposed the major penalty of “Removal from Service” as laid down in sub clause (iii) of clause (b) of sub rule (1) of Rule 4 of the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973 upon the officer.

However, Abdul Hameed Anjum will have the right to appeal to the Appellate Authority under Civil Servants (Appeal) Rules, 1977, within a period of 30 days from the date of communication of this Notification as provided under the relevant Rules.
