Int’l Customs Day: Islamabad Customs torches 32kg heroin, 1000kg charas

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate has destroyed a huge quantity of drugs, alcohol and contraband items worth millions of rupees on the eve of International Customs Day.

On the Day, the customs set on fire 32.6 kilogram heroin, seven kg opium, over 1000 kg charas, poppy seeds, expired medicines, dozens sacks of cardamom, cigarettes, chocolates, cold drinks, juices and cosmetics at Margalla Dry Port.

On the other hand, over 12,500 bottles of liquor and thousand of tins of beer were also destroyed during the ceremony to abolish the smuggling of prohibited items.

The US Embassy Home Land Security and Investigation head on the invitation of International Customs Chief Dr Muhammad Zubair destructed the bottles of liquor. The US official also hailed the performance of Pakistan Customs for enforcing the laws.
