BRUSSELS: An Invercargil company is making waves in Europe and worldwide with its new outdoors clothing range.
Stormline, which turns 50 next year, is a family-owned company started by George McMillan in Invercargill in 1966.
Stormline has since extended the scope of manufacturing into Europe.
Sales director Regan McMillan said Stormline was a third-generation company.
My grandfather started it, my father is still in it. Next year we’re 50 years old.”
McMillan, who is based in the United Kingdom, said Stormline was making new waves in Europe.
“Like any business you’ve got to look futher afield these days. We’ve been selling in the UK for 15 years. Recently we just got a Norwegian distributor and it’s already quite successful.”
Stormline was focused on new clothing and durable outerwear lines to be released in 2016, McMillan said.
It’s exceeded everyones’ expectations at this point. To give you an idea, out of all the initial orders they’ve completely sold everything. [And] that’s to Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway.”
The new range was a step above what the company had produced previously, McMillan said.
