KUALA LUMPUR: Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Co (IPIC) yesterday paid interest of US$52.4 million (RM211 million) due on a US$1.75 billion bond issued by 1MDB Energy Ltd.

1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) said while it has more than enough funds for the 1MDB Energy interest payment and the earlier interest payment for the US$1.75 billion bonds issued by 1MDB Energy (Langat) Ltd, it has not done so due to the ongoing dispute with IPIC.

“All of 1MDB’s rights are reserved with respect to that dispute,” 1MDB said in a statement yesterday. 1MDB highlighted that it is committed to working openly with IPIC to resolve the dispute. 1MDB recently started an engagement process for its US dollar bondholders and encourages all holders to register at its microsite at http://sites.dfkingltd.com/1MDB.

The site contains relevant information and will include regular updates for bondholders. Registrants will be able to submit questions through the website. Another call for all US dollar bondholders will take place on May 23.
