IR Intelligence finds four frontmen of Malik Riaz involved in tax evasion

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Inland Revenue (IR) Directorate of Investigation and Intelligence has detected tax evasion of millions of rupees and mis-declaration of assets, made by four aides of Malik Riaz, chairman of Bahria Town.

Sources said that IR Intelligence has found that Sabir, Afzal, Inamullah and Jehangir, who procure land for new projects, are allegedly involved in tax evasion, while the report in this regard has been sent to the Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) of Rawalpindi and Islamabad for further legal action.

They informed that the IR Intelligence, while scrutinising the bank accounts of the accused, detected that billions of rupees were transferred through these accounts, besides they had plenty of liquid assets in their accounts.

Malik Riaz might be involved in investigations of the case, they revealed.

The sources added that RTOs concerned has served notices upon the said persons following their allegedly involvement in tax evasion and mis-declaration of assets.

It is important of mention here that IR Intelligence Director General Haroon Tareen has directed the all officials to trace the influential tax evader and took action against them without any discrimination.

On the other hand, Director IR Intelligence, Dr. Bashirullah also showed determination to save the national exchequer by eliminating the tax evasion.
