IR-intelligence team raids Bonanza Garments due to tax evasion

KARACHI: The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Inland Revenue, Federal Board of Revenue raided Bonanza Garments Industries (Private) Limited alleged to have involved in sales tax evasion, it is learnt.

The sources told Customs Today that the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation – IR received credible information of suppression of sales tax by Bonanza Garments. A notice was served after which the customs intelligence authorities took away the required information.

According to sources, the intelligence authorities comprehended the entire database management system and managed to generate queries and reports in respect of the last two years. Moreover, the bank statements, registers and records in respect of bank record, journal vouchers, expenditures and other documents were also seized, sources disclosed.

The sources further stated that it is expected that a concealment case involving a significant amount of suppression of sales tax is being investigated.
