Iran currently ranked 7th among world leading countries in nanotechnology

TEHRAN: Iran is currently ranked 7th among world leading countries in nanotechnology, the secretary of the National Department for Development of Nanotechnology said.

Saeed Sarkar said that China, the United States, India, South Korea, Germany and Japan hold the first to sixth places respectively in the ranking above Iran.

Noting that the number of published articles are considered the indicator of science production in a country, Sarkar said that some 25,000 nanotechnology specialists are presently doing research in Iran, while in the beginning less than ten persons were active in this area of science in the country.

He said that as much as 320,000 Iranian students nationwide have been taught the basic terminology of nanotechnology to get familiar with this branch of modern technology.
