IRAN: At least 10, 000 juice bottles were retrieved by Iran Customs that were filled with diesel fuel. Two people were arrested in Iran’s Islamshahr. Police officer Ebrahim Hasanabadi said.
He said the preliminary investigation revealed that the smugglers obtained 15,000 liters of diesel fuel and filled 10,000 juice bottles with it, Iran’s YJC (Young Journalist’s Club) website reported.
Hasanabadi said the arrested admitted that they obtained the diesel fuel in the Dezful city bordering Iraq and intended to deliver it to Afghanistan. A criminal case has been initiated upon the issue.
Iranian officials claim that daily over 20 million liters of liquid fuel is smuggled from Iran.
It should be noted that Afghanistan has stopped importing Iranian oil products since Dec. 22, 2014 due to their substandard quality. Afghanistan has insisted that Iranian oil products do not meet euro-4 standards.Mohammad Ali Khashi, Director General of Iran’s South Khorasan Customs Office had said that 160 consignments of gasoline and fuel oil have been prevented from entering Afghanistan.
