Iran, Greece to enhance joint Chambers’ cooperation

TEHRAN: Iran and Greece will establish their joint chamber of commerce by the next three months, Majid Movafeq-Qadiri, the secretary general of the Iran-Greece Joint Business Council, said.

The two countries have set a target for increasing the bilateral trade to €3 billion over the course of three years, the Tasnim news agency quoted Movafeq-Qadiri as saying on Monday.

He went on to say that Greece is a profitable market for Iranian petrochemical products, carpets, construction materials, and dried fruits, as well as technical and engineering services.

Greece has the potential to invest in Iran’s agriculture, tourism, and development projects, he noted.

It should be noted that a 70-member Iranian trade delegation will visit Greece in the sixth Iranian calendar month of Shahrivar (August 23-September 22).

Mehdi Jahangiri, the chairman of the Iran-Greece Joint Business Council, said in June that the bilateral trade stands at €1.4 billion. He added that the Iranian private sector is keen to expand trade with Greece. In this line, he proposed for establishing business centers in the two countries.

In May, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said his country is keen to expand economic relations with Iran, especially in the energy, tourism, and agriculture fields.

Kotzias pledged to take advantage of all its potentials to remove obstacles on the way of Iran-EU cooperation.
