TEHRAN: Iran and Oman are expected to a sign a deal on appointing an Iranian consultant for a study to build a pipeline to carry Iranian gas to Oman, according to National Iranian Gas Exports Company’s Managing Director Alireza Kameli.
Quoting Kameli, Iran’s Tehran Times said the deal will be finalized by September 14. In March 2014, Iran and Oman signed an MoU under which Iran will supply Oman with 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year in a 25-year deal valued at around $60 billion.
A 260-km subsea pipeline to transfer Iranian gas to Oman is expected to come on stream within three years, the report said.
The proposed pipeline will connect the Iranian province of Hormozgan to Sohar Port in Oman.
The report added that many countries have announced their preparedness to make investment in Iran’s upstream and downstream gas projects.
