TEHRAN: Chairman of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Gholam-Hossein Shafeyee, underlined Iran’s readiness to help Algeria with implementing its development projects.

He pointed to Algeria as one of possible gateways to the African markets, and said, “Expansion of ties with Muslim countries, including Algeria, tops the agenda of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s government.”
The Head of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce, for his part, voiced his country’s enthusiasm for joint ventures with Iran in auto manufacturing .
“We import 500,000 cars to Algeria every year and due to our good experiences we are willing to take part in joint ventures with Iran in car making,” he said.
He pointed to Algeria’s economic capacities, and said, “Algeria has a good car market and the value of the country’s car imports stands at $5 billion per year.”
In January, Iran and Algeria signed two cooperation pacts on implementation of Algeria’s infrastructural projects by Iran.
The pacts were signed by Iranian and Algerian officials in the second meeting of Iran-Algeria Joint Infrastructural Committee in Algiers in late January.
The five-day second meeting of Iran-Algeria Joint Infrastructural Committee was attended by technical and engineering sectors of the two countries in the Algerian capital.
In December, Iran’s Ambassador to Algiers Reza Ameri and Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in a meeting in the Algerian capital explored avenues for the further reinvigoration of relations between the two countries.
In November, Ameri and Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra stressed the need for both Tehran and Algiers to do their best to promote bilateral ties in all sectors.
Speaking in a meeting, the top Algerian diplomat called for consolidation of mutual cooperation in all fields.
He underlined the necessity of exchanging high-ranking delegations between the two countries for widening and deepening of relations.
