TEHRAN: Iran seeks strategic partnership with Japan in different fields of economy, especially in automotive, telecommunication, and electronic industries, Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mohammad-Reza Ne’matzadeh, said.

“Iran favors long-term and strategic partnership with Japan,” Ne’matzadeh said, adding Iran follows a fixed and solid policy in this regard.

Production of passenger and freight cars, locomotives, car spare parts, telecommunication and electronic devices, as well as food stuff are among priorities of Iran for launching joint ventures with Japan, he said.

Ne’matzadeh made the remarks after a meeting with Daishiro Yamagiwa, the Japanese deputy minister of economy, trade and industry, in Tehran on Sunday.

Any participation should be within the framework of investment, production, management, and marketing, he noted.

“The transport sector, particularly rail transit, is of high importance. Manufacturing equipment for oil, gas, petrochemical, and electricity plants are also prioritized.”

Iran exported $33.14 million of non-oil goods to Japan in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2015, while imported $235.03 million of non-oil goods from the country, according to the Iran Customs Administration.
