Iran to launch direct shipping lines from Chabahar Port

TORKAN: Iran’s President’s adviser during his visit to macro-scale infrastructure project’s progress said, “Chabahar-Zahedan railway’s expansion and its connection to trans-Iranian railways, South Pars gas pipeline, and exploiting of region’s mines are among the necessities of development in this province and also in eastern Iran.”

He also added that, “Launching of direct shipping lines and activation of new jetties for taking side of ships larger than TEU 1500 must soon take place in Chabahar”..

The president’s adviser said that after lunching the direct shipping lines and the development of the jetties, we can be witnesses to an eye catching evolution in the field of the region’s goods transit and economic development.

Chabahar is situated on the Makran Coast of the Sistan province of Iran and is officially designated as a Free Trade and Industrial Zone by Iran’s government.

Due to its free trade zone status, the city has increased in significance in international trade. The overwhelming majority of the city’s inhabitants are Balouch.
