The secretary of the Iranian National Saffron Council, Farshid Manouchehri, said earlier that Iran’s saffron exports would increase by 15 per cent in the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21. Iran exported 126 tons of saffron, valued at 384 million US dollars, in the past Iranian calendar year, said Manouchehri.

Iran is the main producer of saffron in the world and provide for 95 per cent of the global demand. The product is exported to Spain and the United Arab Emirates to be processed, packed and distributed globally.
