TEHRAN: Iran’s exports to Europe registered a 33.51 percent fall in terms of value year on year and stood at $65 million during the last Iranian calendar month (March 21-April 21).
The Islamic Republic exported 91,000 metric tons of goods to the European countries in the one-month period, which indicates a decrease of 45 percent in comparison with the same period of preceding year, the Iranian Customs Administration said in its latest monthly report released May 5.
European markets shared 3 percent of Tehran’s total non-oil exports’ value during the last Iranian calendar month.
Meanwhile, the European countries exported over 646,000 metric tons of goods, worth $434 million to Iran during the one-month period from March 21 to April 21.
The Islamic Republic’s imports from the Europe registered a fall by 7 percent in terms of value and a rise by 9.7 percent in terms of volume respectively compared the same period of preceding year.
Iran’s imports from Europe accounted for 22 percent of the country’s total imports’ value.
Germany was the Islamic Republic’s main European trade partner during the period. The country exported over $104 million worth of goods to Iran, indicating a fall by 20 percent year on year.
Germany stood at sixth place among the countries exported goods to Iran.
Switzerland was the next top European goods exporter to Iran with $102.4 million worth of exports (indicating an increase by 2.35 percent), followed by Italy ($58.2 million worth of goods, 50.7 percent increase), Netherlands ($27.7 million, 44.6 percent fall) and the UK ($27.6 million or 730 percent more year on year).
Russia was the main European target of the Islamic Republic exports during the last fiscal month. Iran exported $16.4 million worth of goods to Russia during the period, 25.3 percent less year on year.
Italy (with $12.76 million, 61.8 percent yearly decrease), Belgium (with $9.9 million, 3058 percent more year on year), Germany (with $8.7 million, 28.4 percent increase) and Spain (with $6.2 million, 75 percent fall year on year) stood at the next places.
The Islamic Republic’s non-oil exports (excluding condensates) stood at $2.209 billion during last Iranian calendar month (March 21-April 20), while imports accounted for $1.971 billion.
