Iran’s FM rebuffs ME countries on falling oil prices

TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has criticized the oil producing countries of the Middle East for failing to control plummeting oil prices here the other day, while a meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri whose country is a major oil producer within OPEC.

He made the remarks during a meeting with “It is regrettable that the regional countries do not cooperate regarding decline in oil price and its negative repercussions,” Zarif stated.

Zarif did not name any certain country, but Iran and Saudi Arabia have had differences over the ceiling of oil production by OPEC during the recent months.

Iran calls on OPEC to cut oil production in order to raise price, however, Saudi Arabia pumps more oil in the market, violating its quota.

Earlier in November, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh made a trip to Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to hold consultations on stability of oil price, but he did not go to Saudi Arabia.
