Iran’s trade with Turkey to hit $35b in 2016

TEHRAN: Economy Minister of Turkey, Nihat Zeybekci, said in a meeting that trade between Iran and Turkey will hit $35 billion from the current $14 billion in 2016.

He made the remarks at the High Economic Meeting in Istanbul which was attended by President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Zeybekci said that the preferential tariffs agreement signed by the two countries has been in force since January and includes 265 items.

He underlined that Iran-Turkey trade would experience noticeable growth and the border city of Van should get prepared to handle the high volume of trade.

Van is the only Turkish province which has two border points with Iran.

The Turkish minister also disclosed that a new agreement will be signed between the two countries to develop Kapikoy–Razi border terminal.
