ISLAMABAD: Abdul Basit Hameed, Inland Revenue Audit Officer (IRAO) (BS-17), Regional Tax Office, Lahore, has been exonerated from the charges levelled against him.
As per details, the disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the accused officer under Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973, Ghazala Hameed Razi, Additional Commissioner-IR (BS-19), RTO-II, Lahore, was appointed as inquiry officer.
According to the inquiry report, the charge of repair of car and non-payment of bill of Rs12,000, levelled against the accused officer, was established. However, Abdul Basit filed written reply wherein he stated that the repair of car from complainant was bogus, baseless and the complainant had not mentioned it in his first complaint. Moreover, he stated that he had already denied the allegation before the inquiry officer, adding that engine and chasis number of any car can be easily obtained from MTMIS Punjab by putting only registration no of vehicle. The repair bill annexed to the complaint did not bear his signature, he added, requesting for personal hearing.
During the hearing, the accused officer presented appreciation letter awarded by Commissioner, Zone-II, RTO-II Lahore on account of his performance. After having gone through facts of the case, relevant record as well as written and verbal explanations made by Abdul Basit Hameed, Member (Admin) being Authorised Officer exonerated the officer from the charge levelled against him.
