BAGHDAD: Iraqi Association for Private Banks announced that the capital of these banks was increased by 15% during 2016 to reach 8 trillion dinars. The association disclosed that these funds represent 78.2 of the capitals of the Iraqi banking sector. Iraq has 55 banks in different fields, including the Central Bank of Iraq, investment and Islamic ones. There are 7 governmental banks, 23 private banks, including 9 Islamic banks, in addition to 15 branches for foreign banks.
