Ireland Customs seizes Rs10m smuggled huge number of mobile phones

DUBLIN: The Customs Intelligence and Anti Smuggling Squad seized a huge number of mobile phones, costly clothes and other valuables from a vehicle during checking at River Chenab Bridge.

According to senior officials, these valuables were worth Rs10 million which were being smuggled from Afghanistan, Iran, India and China to the markets of Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala and Lahore.

According to the senior officials, the Customs Department has registered a case against the accused and sent him behind bars.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided an electronics shop on Sialkot city’s Railway Road and caught its owners red handed while stealing electricity directly from the main supply line.

Some employees of the Qaisar Electronics attacked the raiding FIA team and beat up badly FIA Sub Inspector Khizar Hayyat and ASI Khalid Mehmood. Later, police were called in, which saved FIA officials from the accused.

Sub inspector Khizar Hayyat said that accused Sheikh Qaisar and his son Sheikh Faisal were stealing 14 kilowatts electricity load directly from the nearby main electricity cable there.

He added that FIA has arrested the accused and sent them behind bars after registering a case against them.
