Ireland retail sales swell 8.6% year-on-year in September

DUBLIN: Irish retail sales were up 8.6 percent year-on-year in September, according to official figures released on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) showed the volume of retail sales increased by 0.3 percent in September 2015 when compared with August 2015.

If motor trades are excluded, there was an increase of 0.7 percent in the volume of retail sales in September 2015 when compared with the month before, and there was an increase of 8.0 percent in the annual figure.

There was a decrease of 0.1 percent in the value of retail sales in September 2015 from August and there was an annual increase of 4.9 percent when compared with September 2014.

If motor trades are excluded from the value of retail sales, the monthly decrease was 0.1 percent and the annual increase was 4.1 percent.
