DUBLIN: Revenue Customs Service seized 308,000 cigarettes with a retail value of around €140,000 at Portlaoise Mail Centre.
After a routine profiling, Revenue’s sniffer dog ‘Elvis’ had a positive reaction to parcels from mainland Europe.
Queen Superslim cigarettes were found, with a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €119,000.
An investigation is underway.
