DUBLIN: Fáilte Ireland, the Irish body that promotes business events, has won more than 50 international events this year, worth a combined €27 million (£19m) to the local economy.

The events will bring more than 20,000 international delegates to Ireland in over the next five years, head of business tourism Miriam Kennedy said, including The Network for the Advancement of Transfusion Alternatives (NATA) Annual Symposium at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS), the 1,200 delegate International Air Transport Association (IATA) AGM also scheduled for June 2016 in the RDS, and the 10th Congress of European Violence in Clinical Psychiatry, which will bring 550 delegates to the Crowne Plaza, Santry in October 2017.

Kennedy said: “As well as providing an important revenue source for many hotels and venues in Dublin and across Ireland who cater for such large events, this activity sustains and grows tourism businesses throughout the year, particularly outside the summer season.”

Fáilte Ireland has also unveiled a revamped Dublin Convention Bureau website, featuring a live chat function and event planning toolkits. “While we are already ahead of target for 2015, it is important to us that we do not rest on our laurels but rather we continue to push the envelope making our supports as relevant and as easy to access as possible,” Kennedy added.
