Irrigation dept recovers over Rs 33m abiana from growers

MULTAN: Irrigation department has recovered about Rs 33.2 million water rates (abiana) from growers during Rabbi season 2015-16 across irrigation zone in Multan.

According to the irrigation sources on Thursday, the teams had recovered water rates abiana over Rs six million from Multan district, Rs 469,499 from Lodhran, Rs 18 million abiana from Vehari and over Rs 8 million from Pak-Pattan district during the first four months of Rabbi season from July 0I to November 30, 2016.

Similarly, Rs 883,024 as water fine (tawan) was also recovered from four districts under Irrigation Multan zone including Rs 742,145 from Lodhran, Rs 93,600 from Vehari, Rs 47,279 from Pak-Pattan while no recovery was reported from Multan district during first four months of the Rabbi season 2015-16, sources concluded.
