IRSA reviewing provincial water allocation

ISLAMABAD: Indus River System Authority (IRSA) is in process of reviewing the provincial allocations of water and would be shared soon after taking the decision.

According to the IRSA spokesman on Thursday, water inflow in all major rivers witnessed significant increase. The water share of Punjab remained at 40,800 cusecs, Sindh 34,000 cusecs, KPK 3100 cusecs and Balochistan nil. The authority released 76,400 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 111,500 cusecs.

Water level in the Indus River at Tarbela Dam was 1397.91 feet, which was 17.91 feet higher than its dead level of 1,380 feet. Water inflow in the dam was recorded as 29,300 cusecs while outflow as 18,000 cusecs.

The water level in the Jhelum River at Mangla Dam was 1076.30 feet, which was 36.30 feet higher than its dead level of 1,040 feet whereas the inflow and outflow of water was recorded as 33,800 cusecs and 16,000 cusecs respectively.

The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded as 59,000, 27,200 and 5,400 cusecs respectively. Similarly from the Kabul River, 33,600 cusecs of water was released at Nowshera and 8,800 cusecs from the Chenab River at Marala.
