ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar has chaired a meeting to review performance of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics in the last six months.
Chief Statistician, Mr. Asif Bajwa apprised the meeting about the current trend of inflation indicators. The Minister was informed that SPI is continuously declining due to smooth supply of different commodities in the market and vigilant monitoring of prices both at federal and provincial levels. Prices of major items are stable or exhibit a declining trend.
The Minister directed PBS to ensure that all data related to inflation and other economic indicators is timely updated and wider coverage accorded to its dissemination for information of the general public. The Minister further asked that periodic surveys for ensuring data accuracy must be carried out regularly using latest available technology.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and PBS attended the meeting.
