Islamabad AFU exceeded its allocated revenue target before Eid holidays

ISLAMABAD: Prior to the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, the Air Freight Unit (AFU) Islamabad had surpassed its assigned revenue target for June of Financial Year FY2016-17 under the head of Customs Duty (CD).

According to Shahid Jan, Deputy Collector AFU Islamabad, while talking to Customs Today, he said the revenue comprises items of telecom sector .i.e. software and hardware. For above said period, the AFU was assigned with Rs864million of CD whereas it collected Rs913million.

He said the AFU will struggle to generate more and more revenue within the next two days. During the current month of June, the AFU received revenue through many big cases of recovery and collected a handsome amount through said cases. To get more revenue, the AFU also developed solid understanding with importers so that they can use AFU Islamabad for their import consignments.

The AFU Islamabad earned Rs272.00million of All Duty Taxes during initial 15 days of June’s Financial Year 2016-17. He said the performance has been satisfactory during the 15 days of June 2016-17. During 15 days, the AFU received Rs89million of Customs Duty (CD) while it did Rs118million of Sales Tax (ST) and the AFU got Rs65million of Withholding Tax (WT).

He stated that the AFU shall meet its overall revenue target assigned for Financial Year 2016-17 but Customs Duty target is higher than previous month’s. The Export Section of the AFU is also performing well as the Customs Export Section of Air Freight Unit (AFU) has earned the business of Rs932.93million during 15 days (1st June to 15th of June) of Financial Year 2016-17 whereas it cleared export consignments of 1,419 Goods Declarations (GDs) under both ends WeBOC and One Customs.
