ISLAMABAD: The State Warehouse at Islamabad Airport earned Rs 3.976 million through open public auction of various confiscated goods presented at Air Freight Unit (AFU) building on May 18.
Talking to Customs Today during an exclusive interview, Assistant Collector Ali Asad said that under supervision of Collector Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad Dr. Arslan, the Customs State Warehouse Islamabad has made a considerable contribution in collection of revenues.
He added that the State Warehouse Islamabad deposited 27 kilogram of gold in the Mint Department and transferred the amount of Rs 110 million to State Warehouse accounts. The amount will meet the allocated target of MCC Islamabad under all heads of duty and taxes.
Ali Asad further said that the State Warehouse has deposited different confiscated foreign currencies worth Rs 22.5 million in account of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The assistant collector said the auction was well-organized and transparent. The seized goods presented for public auction comprise silver jewellery weighed 30 kilogram and priced Rs 01.982 million and its final bid price was Rs 01.920 million excluding advance income tax of 10%. The sale of the said silver fetched Rs 02.112 million revenue.
The assistant collector gave details of 2nd lot of impounded goods of stitched clothes, artificial jewellery, LCDs, LEDs, and laptops. The 2nd lot’s reserved price was Rs 0.325 million and its bid price was Rs 0.415 million. The total price of the 2nd lot was Rs 0.456 million including 10% of advance income tax valued Rs 0.0415 million.
The 3rd lot comprises school bags, hand gloves and MP-3 players and its reserved prize was Rs 0.148 million. It’s bid price was Rs 0.160 million and its total amount includes 10% advance income tax of Rs 0.176 million. The 4th lot of cassette indoor unit HP and notebooks had reserved price of Rs 0.655 million whereas its bid price was Rs 0.640 million including 10% of advance income tax valued Rs 0.704 million. The 5th and last lot was sold at Rs 0.528 million including 10% of advance income tax worth Rs 0.048 million while its reserved price was Rs 0.585 million and its bid price was Rs 0.480 million.
The SWH will hold another sealed auction of 651 confiscated mobile phones before 30th of June FY2016-17. The State Warehouse will earn Rs 10-12 million of revenue out of the said sealed auction. Another sealed bid auction of mobile phones is announced and the State Warehouse got an offer of Rs 7.00 million. After an approval, the lot will be handed over to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) as authorized company and the said revenue of Rs 07.00 million will be deposited into account of State Warehouse Islamabad.
