Islamabad ASO seizes smuggled ceramic tiles & vehicle worth Rs7m

ISLAMABAD: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized smuggled Iran origin ceramic tiles worth Rs7 million along with offending vehicle.

Sources said that credible information was received by Collector Junaid Jalil Khan that an attempt would be made to smuggle foreign origin ceramic tiles through truck bearing registration no.Z-6457 Peshawar from Quetta to Rawalpindi.

To check the authenticity of the information an anti-smuggling squad was constituted under the supervision f Deputy Collector Jalal Zadhi, which also includes Jamil Akhtar Superintendent, Tasweer e Mustafa Superintendent, Muhammad Arshad Inspector, Izhar Ahmad Khan Inspector and Prosecution, Fahim Ahmad UDC and Javed Ahmad LDC, Sepoy Anjum Shahzad, Shaukat Mehmood, Mohsan Shah and driver Jaffar Hussain.

The Squad held a nakabandi near Pir Alam Shah, Talagang Chakwal Road,  meanwhile the hinted truck was signaled coming towards Rawalpindi which was intercepted by  customs staff. through search of the said truck led to recovered Iranian origin ceramic tiles Paras Kavir brand, Emarat Digital Brand and Kashi Sohail Brand in sizes of 30×60 cmx9=1.62 sqs in total cotton quantity of 2000 cartoon each contained 09 pieces.

The total value of the of tiles is Rs2.080 million while seized offending vehicle is estimated in worth of Rs5 million, the case has been registered and forwarded for further investigation to I&P.
