Islamabad ASO seizes smuggled items worth Rs500000 from various buses

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad confiscated various kinds of smuggled goods valued Rs500000 from different passenger busses coming from Peshawar to Rawalpindi on Monday.

According to Rana Shakeel, Superintendent ASO Islamabad, a tip-off was shared by Collector Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad Dr. Arslan. The ASO squad established a picked on GT Road Peshawar–Rawalpindi and intercepted two passenger busses. After checking, the ASO staff found a big quantity of different kinds of smuggled goods loaded on the roofs of the buses.
The ASO staff asked the possessors of goods to show the proof of the loaded goods, but they failed to provide any valid documents. The seized goods comprise files weighed 330 kilogram, unstitched cloth weighed 378 kilogram, foreign origin tyres numbered 41 and alloy rim weighed 301 kilogram.
The ASO staff shifted the smuggled goods to state warehouse and registered an FIR against the tax evaders. The case has been forwarded to investigation and prosecution department (I&P) for further action.
