KARAMAY: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal has said that Pakistan and China have signed 20 memoranda of understanding (MoU) worth $2 billion in different sectors.
The MoUs were signed at a two-day moot of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Karamay-Xinjiang Forum at the Karamay Government Municipal Auditorium. The agreements were sealed in sectors of energy, communication, social services, agriculture, health, education and infrastructure.
A consortium of 35 Chinese companies was also formed that will invest in Pakistan pushing forward the CPEC.
In his brief address, the minister proposed cooperation in space technology between Pakistan and China as part of the historic declaration, saying it will take the Pak-China relations to new heights.
The participants laid great emphasis on sustainability and decided to make the forum an annual feature. The next meeting of the forum would be held in October this year in Beijing.
