Islamabad Customs exceeds duty collection target, collects Rs 4.7 billion in FY2014-15

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad has surpassed the duty collection target for the outgoing fiscal year 2014-15, showing an exceptional performance, Deputy Collector Yawar Nawaz has said.

As per details, the Federal Board of Revenue had assigned Rs 4.426 billion target in term of customs duty collection to Islamabad collectorate which had been achieved two months prior to the end of fiscal year. As per provisional figures, it collected Rs 4.705 billion approximately by the end of year.

DC Yawar told Customs Today that effective policies adopted by chief collector and Chief Collector Zeba Hai enabled the staff of the collectorate to meet the set target before the end of fiscal year, adding that the employees also performed out of the way.

He informed Rs 30 million allocated as reward by the FBR for the best performers has also been distributed among the employees without discrimination.

Shahid also revealed that MCC Islamabad has also exceeded the target of June, 2015 by collecting Rs 800 million in wake of customs duty against the target of Rs 794 million.

Rs 65 million was earned through the auction of impounded vehicle, while in other cases Rs 170 million was recovered by the collectorate in June, he told, saying that millions of rupees were deposited in national exchequer by foiling the currency smuggling bids.
